Apple TV has been redesigned to be small in size but big on entertainment. Rent from the largest selection of HD movies — many available the same day they come out on DVD. Watch Netflix titles instantly. Rent TV shows, commercial free in HD. And stream photos and music from your computer to your widescreen TV. Best of all, Apple TV is just $119.
Our most entertaining design yet.
The sleek new Apple TV has been completely retuned for your entertainment. It’s 80 percent smaller than the previous generation — even with a built-in power supply. Which makes it perfect for sitting neatly on a widescreen TV stand or squeezing into a crowded media cabinet. Not only does the new Apple TV have an amazingly small footprint, it’s also incredibly energy efficient. It stays cool without a fan, so it’s never noisy. And when it’s not filling your living room with drama, romance, and comedy, it uses less power than a night-light.

All streaming. No hassle.
Everything you want to watch — movies, TV shows, photos, and more — streams wirelessly to Apple TV. That way you don’t have to worry about managing storage or syncing to your iTunes library. HD movie and TV show rentals play over the Internet to your widescreen TV, while music and photos stream from your computer. Either way, all you have to do is click and play. Since Apple TV features a powerful A4 chip, it streams everything effortlessly, without frozen screens or stutters. Video looks crisp and clear. And just like watching a DVD, you can fast-forward through opening credits, pause for a popcorn break, or replay a hilarious scene until you memorize every line.

Get connected with Apple TV.
Setting up Apple TV is about as simple as it gets. Just plug the power cord into the wall and connect Apple TV to your widescreen TV using an HDMI cable (sold separately). Since everything streams wirelessly to Apple TV, that’s all you need. Well, that and a comfy couch.

From the movie theatre to your home theatre.
No more waiting for DVDs or watching stale blockbusters on cable. With Apple TV, you get instant access to the hottest Hollywood titles and new releases. Popular movies are never out of stock and you can rent as many as you want. That’s perfect for those spontaneous movie nights (or afternoons or mornings). Search by top movies, title, or genre. Even read a quick movie review, watch the trailer, and check out the latest ratings from Rotten Tomatoes. Once you find what you’re looking for, simply press Play, and in seconds, you’re watching the opening credits with theatre-like Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.1SD rentals start at just $3.99, and HD rentals start at $4.99. You have 30 days to start watching, and once you begin, you can watch as many times as you want in 48 hours.

The Internet’s most wanted.
Now on your HDTV.

Put down your mouse and grab a remote. In addition to movies, Apple TV gives you access to some of your favourite Internet content — and makes it even more entertaining by giving it the movie-star treatment on your HDTV. Browse and play YouTube videos, watch your favourite HD podcasts, and listen to Internet radio through your home entertainment speakers. Apple TV even lets you access Flickr photos and MobileMe galleries. From the biggest screen in the house.

Turn your TV into an HD photo album.
With Apple TV, every megapixel of every photo looks amazing. Big, bold, and in glorious HD: It’s the treatment your digital life deserves. So instead of huddling around a computer screen, you and your friends can relive memories from a comfy spot in your living room. Or add some life to the party with a photo slideshow. Select an album, pick a slideshow theme, and finish it off with a soundtrack featuring music from your iTunes library.

Your music. Your speakers.
The perfect duet.

You’ve got tons of music on your computer. But the best speakers in the house are part of your home theatre system. Apple TV connects them without missing a beat. Your iTunes music library streams directly to Apple TV. So you can sit back, choose a tune, and enjoy the music.

Give your digital collection some airtime.
Those movies and TV shows you bought on iTunes don’t have to stay on your computer. For maximum entertainment, stream your digital collection over the air to your Apple TV. Just don’t forget to call dibs on the recliner.

Channel surf, tap, and flick with the Remote app.
Control Apple TV using your iPhone or iPod touch. Download the Remote app free from the App Store. And with a flick of your finger, you can rent new movies and browse your media collection. Remote uses the same easy-to-use interface you already use to browse music and video on your Multi-Touch device. So right away, you know how to navigate. If you want to find something specific, use your device’s QWERTY keyboard to quickly tap out the title instead of clicking letters on the Apple TV screen. Then keep tapping to play, fast-forward, rewind, and pause to your finger’s content.

Announced today and coming in August is the very, very long awaited update to the Mac Pro line. While the design of the machine remains the same, the Mac Pro now features the option of either 4, 6, 8, or 12 cores of processing power and a performance boost over previous models of up to 1.5x.

From Apple.com:

The new Mac Pro offers two advanced processor options from Intel. The Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Nehalem” processor is available in a single-processor, quad-core configuration at speeds up to 3.2GHz. For even greater speed and power, choose the “Westmere” series, Intel’s next-generation processor based on its latest 32-nm process technology. ”Westmere” is available in both quad-core and 6-core versions, and the Mac Pro comes with either one or two processors. Which means that you can have a 6-core Mac Pro at 3.33GHz, an 8-core system at 2.4GHz, or, to max out your performance, a 12-core system at up to 2.93GHz.

The graphics card has been updated as well offering three (yes, 3 now!) video ports (2 miniDisplayPort and 1 dual-link DVI) on either the ATI Radeon HD 5770 with 1GB GDDR5 RAM or the ATI Radeon HD 5870 with 1GB GDDR5 RAM.

For storage the Mac Pro still features the same RAID options but configurations have been updated to allow for up to four 512MB solid-state drives!

Pricing and availability to be announced.

The much rumoured Magic Trackpad ($69 CAD) was finally announced  and began shipping today.  The Magic Trackpad bring the same multi-touch functionality previously only available on Apple’s MacBook and MacBook Pro line to your desktop (or more comfortable positioning for your notebook).

From Apple.com:

Desktop users, your time has come. The new Magic Trackpad is the first Multi-Touch trackpad designed to work with your Mac desktop computer. It uses the same Multi-Touch technology you love on the MacBook Pro. And it supports a full set of gestures, giving you a whole new way to control and interact with what’s on your screen. Swiping through pages online feels just like flipping through pages in a book or magazine. And inertial scrolling makes moving up and down a page more natural than ever. Magic Trackpad connects to your Mac via Bluetooth wireless technology. Use it in place of a mouse or in conjunction with one on any Mac computer — even a notebook.

Magic Trackpad is just like the trackpad on the MacBook Pro — but bigger. It’s made with the same advanced touch-friendly and wear-resistant glass surface. But with nearly 80 percent more area, it’s the largest Multi-Touch trackpad made by Apple. So there’s even more room for you to scroll, swipe, pinch, and rotate to your fingers’ content. And since the entire surface is a button that clicks, you can use it in place of a mouse.

Magic Trackpad features the same sculpted aluminum design as the Apple Wireless Keyboard, and side by side the two sit flush at the same angle and height. Go from typing to gesturing in one motion, or do both at the same time. How perfect is that?

Magic Trackpad works using Bluetooth technology, so you don’t have to deal with an annoying cable that dictates where you place it. Once you pair Magic Trackpad with your Bluetooth-enabled Mac, you’ll enjoy a reliable, secure connection up to 33 feet away. Magic Trackpad detects periods of inactivity, and it’s equipped with an on/off switch. Together these features help to conserve battery life, so you can keep gesturing for months at a time.

The entire surface of Magic Trackpad is one large button, so you can click and double-click anywhere. Magic Trackpad also supports a full set of gestures, including two-finger scrolling, pinching to zoom, rotating with your fingertips, three-finger swiping, and activating Exposé or switching between applications with four fingers.

Apple today introduced the 27″ Cinema Display, the perfect companion for your MacBook Pro, iMac, mini, or Mac Pro! Available in September the new 27″ Cinema Display will retail for $999 USD (Canadian pricing not yet announced).

From Apple:

Connect your Mac with Mini DisplayPort to the LED Cinema Display for a panoramic viewing experience unlike any other. You get a huge 27-inch glossy widescreen display with a cinematic 16:9 aspect ratio and an astonishing 2560-by-1440 resolution. With 60 percent more pixels than the 24-inch LED Cinema Display, the 27-inch LED Cinema Display gives you even more room for all your windows and applications.

Apple today also lowered the price of the still current 24″ Cinema Display from $999 CAD to $849.

From Apple.com:

With the 24-inch Apple LED Cinema Display, you can turn your new MacBook into a desktop in three easy connections. The universal MagSafe connector charges your notebook. A new Mini DisplayPort connector makes attaching an external display even easier and faster than before. And a USB connector provides access to three USB 2.0 ports. There’s also a built-in iSight camera, microphone, and speaker system that provide a true desktop experience. Made of aluminum and glass, the LED Cinema Display is the perfect companion for the new MacBook family. And it’s now compatible with Mac desktop computers that have a Mini DisplayPort: Mac Pro, Mac mini, and iMac.
